FRASCA International, Inc, of Urbana, Ill. has contracted with international helicopter transportation operator HNZ Group Inc. of Montreal, Canada for the supply of an AS350 Level 7 Flight Training Device (FTD).
The AS350B FTD will be installed inside the airport terminal at Edmonton International Airport and will be used for initial and recurrent training for pilots flying demanding missions in remote areas of Canada. It will also be made available for training use by other Canadian helicopter operators.
The FTD will be convertible between three different configurations of the aircraft including the AS350 B2 analog instrument panel, the AS350 B2 VEMD instrument panel and the AS350 B3e VEMD instrument panel. This will be the first Level 7 Flight Training Device certified in Canada. Features of the FTD include FRASCA TruVision™ Global visual system with projection display in a totally enclosed spherical screen with a field of view of 200 x 70 degrees. Databases including the Edmonton area and specialized training scenarios at various locations in Canada will be provided. The FTD will also include a vibration platform, Graphical Instructor Station (GISt™), and cargo mirror simulation.
FRASCA has also been contracted to provide a Bell 206L Level 7 FTD to Air Evac Lifeteam of O’Fallon, Mo. The FTD will be an FAA Level 7 Bell 206L with Garmin G500H, Genesys Aerosystems HeliSAS, HTAWS, and Garmin GTN650. It will also feature FRASCA’s high-fidelity NVG simulation for the ultimate realism and accuracy in NVG training.
Air Evac is also the launch customer for FRASCA’s new TruCue™, a newly developed simulator cueing and vibration system which provides critical vestibular feedback to the pilots. This system makes the simulator fly more realistically and allows the pilot to naturally react to flight motion cues while training. TruCue™ consists of a 6 Degree of Freedom (6DoF) motion base optimized for helicopter simulation and is based on technology used in FRASCA’s Level D Full Flight Simulators that has been adapted for smaller facilities and tighter budgets. In addition to this FTD, Air Evac operates a FRASCA TruFlite™ H342.
