By Staff Writer | July 1, 2015

Nonprofit organization Women in Aviation International (WAI) will announce seven new scholarships in 2016 in addition to its existing list, including several of interest to present and aspiring female helicopter professionals. The application period begins July 1. Scholarship winners will be announced at WAI’s 27th Annual International Women in Aviation Conference, held in Nashville, Tenn., March 10-12, 2016. Requirements vary per scholarship, but all applicants must be current WAI members to be considered.

Applicants seeking a helicopter Airframe, Powerplant or A&P certificate (as well as any of the international equivalents) can apply for the HAI Helicopter Maintenance Scholarship, valued at $1,000, with preference given to those already working toward certification. Other new scholarships range from $800 to $5,000, and support students engaged in primary flight training, written and oral exam preparation, application to aerospace degree programs and CFI refresher courses.
