Aspen Avionics Expanding OEM Reach

By Staff Writer | July 7, 2015

Aspen Avionics is expanding its reach into the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) market and growing its product line through the acquisition of Accord Technology. “This is going to expand our footprint in NextGen and expand the GPS capabilities of our own product lines,” Aspen President/CEO John Uczekaj told Rotor & Wing International. “It also brings us much more of an OEM customer base. That’s a very, very big deal for us.” Founded in 2008, Phoenix-based Accord Technology specializes in designing, manufacturing and supporting receivers and sensors to enable GPS and satellite-based augmentation systems (SBAS) navigation, including the Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) devices at the heart of the FAA’s Next Generation Air Transport System (NextGen). Accord supplies OEMs in all aerospace segments, it says, and its products are on both manned and unmanned platforms. Albuquerque, New Mexico-based Aspen Avionics specializes in general aviation products to increase situational awareness and reduce pilot workload at the low end of the price range. Its products include the flagship Evolution Flight Display system, versions of which are available as factory options on all Robinson Helicopter models. Aspen acquired Accord Technology from that joint venture’s owners, Accord Software & Systems of Bangalore, India, and AvValues of Phoenix, on June 19.
