The makers of Encyclopedia Britannica will now provide training management at PHI, Inc. The global helicopter transport provider purchased Fox—a Web-based, commercial-off-the-shelf software platform to manage training and scheduling—from Britannica Knowledge Systems, a subsidiary of the more than 240-year-old brand. Fox will help PHI manage training data in order to track, maintain, notify and report certification and regulatory compliance. The system will also help manage training program schedules and resources through automated tools that synchronize physical equipment and teaching space with human instructor availability. “The system coordinates not just pilot availability, it matches the experience and trained attributes of the two individuals so that they are the most appropriate pair to learn from each other,” said Terry Myers, PHI’s Director of Training. The Fox system went live last week at PHI.
