Airbus Helicopters has sold its first seven H175s configured for public service to Hong Kong’s Government Flying Services. Deliveries of the super-medium helicopters are slated for late 2017 through 2018. In the public service configuration, the H175 is equipped to serve missions such as law enforcement, search and rescue, emergency medical transport and land/maritime border patrol. “The enlarged mission scope will not only be good news for public services providers, but also for oil and gas operators, as they will benefit from having the ability to equip themselves for a quick role change for SAR operations,” said Airbus Helicopters President and CEO Guillaume Faury. Airbus recently concluded a world tour demonstrating the offshore-configured H175 to buyers in that segment. Customers including Bristow Group and Milestone Aviation Group have ordered more than 40 of that configuration.
