MD 500ER to Aid in African Wildlife Protection

By Staff Writer | September 10, 2015

MD Helicopters has delivered a single-engine MD 500ER to Bushveld Game Capture for use in the protection and preservation of endangered animals in South Africa. Founded in 2006, Vryburg-based Bushveld specializes in wildlife capture, purchasing, selling, transport, veterinary services, and the darting and counting of game. Bushveld's website lists its current aircraft fleet to include a Robinson R22 Beta and R44 Raven II, but MD says this is the second time Bushveld has ordered one of its helicopters in three years—the first purchase being an MD 500E in 2012. "The decision to add this MD 500ER to our Bushveld fleet was an easy one for me," said Tina de Jager, Bushveld's chief pilot and owner. "We fly in some pretty difficult conditions on a daily basis, so safety is of paramount importance."
