Metro Sims Certified For Canada

By Staff Writer | September 18, 2015

Transport Canada has certified two simulators housed at Metro Aviation’s Helicopter Flight Training Center in Shreveport, Louisiana. The EC135 Level-D full-motion simulator and the AS350 Level-7 flight-training device will now both count toward full training credit for Canadian customers. Phoenix Heli-Flight will be the center’s first Canadian customer and is scheduled for training in the EC135 in October. The FAA already had certified both simulators for U.S. customers’ use—the AS350 FTD in fall 2013 and the EC135 FMS in summer 2014. The Helicopter Flight Training Center allows operators to develop custom training plans suited to the needs of their pilots for training in areas such as emergency procedures and inadvertent instrument meteorological conditions. From the center’s CommLab, aeromedical communication specialists in training can coordinate with pilots in the simulators and monitor their training flights.
