The Japanese Coast Guard has selected worldwide MRO provider Heli-One to overhaul a Eurocopter (Airbus Helicopters) AS332 L1. The major overhaul, or “G-Check,” began last month and will be completed at Heli-One’s 215,000 square foot facility in Stavanger, Norway. The Japanese Coast Guard delivers border security and search and rescue services on behalf of the Japanese Government using a mixed fleet of aircraft. The AS332 L1 is a medium twin engine member of the Super Puma family primarily used in the oil and gas sector. It can be used for internal or external load carrying, casualty evacuation and MEDEVAC, SAR and VIP transport.
