Bell Helicopter appointed Lisa Atherton its executive VP of military business. She will provide strategic direction and overall management for all government programs and business development efforts. Since she joined Bell in 2012, Atherton has held various positions, including VP of global military business development.

Tom L. Wood, Bell’s chief technologist, received the American Helicopter Society’s International 2016 Alexander A. Nikolsky Honorary Lectureship, which recognizes those who reflect the highest ideals, goals and achievements in vertical flight aircraft engineering and development fields.
Ashley Kelly and Kyle Williams have re-joined FreeFlight Systems as inside sales manager and regional sales manager, respectively. Kelly has eight years experience in the avionics industry and will manage communication between the company’s dealers and team. Williams is a single-engine pilot with more than 500 hours flight time and 12 years experience in the industry. He previously held regional sales manager positions with Aspen Avionics and Avidyne Corp. Williams will oversee operations in the southeastern U.S. and also in Australia.
Mecaer Aviation Group named Daren Humphries its sales manager for corporate aircraft after the company expanded its business development group. With more than 25 years industry experience, including 15 years with San Diego-based Corporate Helicopters, Humphries will expand the company’s presence in North America in the corporate and VIP helicopter completion segments.
Rockwell Collins has elected Kelly Ortberg as its chairman of the board. He has been president and CEO at the company since July 2013 as well as director since June 2001. Ortberg was previously executive VP and COO of the company’s defense wing, Rockwell Collins Government Systems.
Cobham Aerospace Communications has appointed Jim Jackalone as director of sales and marketing. Previously, Jackalone was director of technical sales with Honeywell Aerospace. Before that, he was VP of marketing, sales and service at Triumph Aviation Services Asia.
Mark Tattershall has joined AGC AeroComposites as director of business development. Previously, he held the same position at Kaman Aerospace Group. He has significant experience in the commercial and military aerospace and defense fields. Tattershall holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering and business development.
The chief of staff for Air, Joint Force Headquarters, North Dakota National Guard, Bob Becklund, has been promoted to brigadier general of the U.S. Air Force Reserve. Becklund’s 33-year military career includes having piloted both manned and unmanned aircraft. He is currently executive director of the Northern Plains Unmanned Aircraft Aerial Systems test site in Grand Forks, North Dakota.
Rob Tattersall has been appointed AVS-SYS Ltd.‘s new quality manager, overseeing development and testing of the company’s advanced composites. Previously, he was a quality manager at AD Aerospace, where he improved procedures and implementation.
Dan Schultz has been named president of Sikorsky Aircraft upon the company’s integration with Lockheed Martin. A former U.S. Marine Corps helicopter pilot, he previously was VP for L-M’s Ship & Aviation Systems.
Metro Aviation’s Kristen Holmes has received a 40 Under 40 Award from the Young Professionals Initiative and two Louisiana chambers of commerce. The award recognizes individuals’ personal achievement, leadership and community involvement.
