The Irish Coast Guard completed its 1,000th helicopter mission this year on Dec. 26, the first time it has reached that annual milestone since its helicopter service was launched in 1991. The service’s helicopters completed 914 missions in 2014. The Coast Guard provides round-the-clock helicopter service from bases in Dublin, Shannon, Sligo and Waterford using Sikorsky Aircraft S-92s operated by CHC, which in 2010 won a 10-year contract to provide the Coast Guard’s helicopter search-and-rescue services.
