Pawan Hans to Launch Mumbai Air Tours

By Staff Writer | January 7, 2016

Bibi Ka Maqbara (or "Tomb of the Lady") in Aurangabad is among the sites on the tour route.

Pawan Hans plans to start air tours of India’s most populous city today.

The Mumbai Darshan service is run under an agreement with the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corp. using two Bell Helicopter 206L4s. (“Darshan” is the Sanskrit word for view and often is used in reference to divine visions.) Mumbai is the capital of Maharashtra state.

The government-owned operator plans to offer flights for a base price of about $5 (320 rupees) before taxes. The flights will operate from Mumbai Juhu Airport, the facility west of the city that handles its helicopter traffic. The first tours will be of areas north and east of Mumbai, but the service may be expanded to other areas if it proves viable.
