Sierra Industries and the SkyWay Aviation Group recently celebrated the completion of several deliveries of custom-modified Bell 407GX Special Mission helicopters to their new home base. Outfitted for aerial intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) missions, these sophisticated rotorcraft are now being utilized by their new owners in helping to protect their assets.

This ISR program takes advantage of the unique mix of capabilities offered by the various aviation entities that make up the SkyWay Aviation Group. Starting with engineering design and project management services from SkyWay Aerospace Technology, Inc. and continuing with Sierra Industries' custom manufacturing, aircraft and avionics modifications, maintenance and inspection services. Pilot training, spare-parts provisioning, maintenance training and other specialized services, such as on-site aircraft paint and interior capabilities, helped provide customers with a streamlined, single-source solution for their special missions aircraft requirements.

Launched in November of 2013, the ISR development program includes engineering, modification, flight testing and delivery of command and control Citation FJ44 Eagle II airplanes, along with additional special mission-provisioned Citation Eagle II airplanes and a fleet of special mission-provisioned Bell 407GX helicopters.
