Two corporate customers in Chile have signed letters of intent for the Bell 505 JetRanger X. One customer was a private owner and the other was Eagle Copter. Both helicopters will be configured for corporate and VIP transportation.
The five-seat, single-engine Bell 505, which first flew in Nov. 2014, is the first in the short light-single weight class to be equipped with a dual channel FADEC. Three flight test vehicles have amassed more than 575 flight hr, and work has begun to prepare for initial production at the Louisiana Assembly Center in Lafayette. Additionally, Turbomeca received EASA type certification for the Arrius 2R engine, which will power the Bell 505.
