The first certified multicopter, e-volo's Volocopter VC200, has begun manned flight tests in southern Germany. The Volocopter is a personal aerial vehicle with electric propulsion and therefore has no tailpipe emissions. The company claims the aircraft eliminates human error and can reduce fatal accidents since it can be piloted one-handedly. The aircraft received the permit to fly as an ultralight aircraft from German aviation authorities in February. Sales are to begin in 2018.
