Leonardo-Finmeccanica unveiled the AgustaWestland AW101 Norwegian all-weather search-and-rescue helicopter at the manufacturer’s Yeovil, England, facility. Deliveries of the aircraft will start with the Royal Norwegian Air Force in March 2017 through 2020, according to the company.
The aircraft is equipped with the Osprey AESA radar, the world’s first lightweight airborne surveillance radar to be built with no moving parts and will provide a 360-deg field of view. Other equipment includes a four-axis digital automatic flight control system, two rescue hoists, searchlight, electro optical device, mobile detecting system and fully integrated avionics and mission system.
