Gyro Stabilized Systems (GSS) has launched the first fully digital electronic newsgathering aerial camera to be used on a Bell Helicopter 407 in New York City.
The company partnered with Total Traffic and Weather Network to provide a B516 camera for the helicopter, which belongs to news service WABC-TV. The camera includes a Sony HDC-P1 camera with a Canon HJ40x10 lens. According to GSS' managing director, Jason Fountaine, the system provides cleaner video image versus systems using a split-head camera design.
