Leonardo's global reach is expanding with orders for Helikorea, Lease Corporation International (LCI) and Specialist Aviation Services (SAS). Five different Brazilian customers have also recently signed on for the helicopter from the civilian market. This makes for nearly 150 AW169 orders and options signed to date, according to a company news release.
The orders from Brazil follow the August presentation of the AW169 VIP to nearly 100 Brazilian pilots. More than 20 of the 150 AW169 purchase agreements worldwide are from Brazil. Helikorea ordered two rotorcraft for emergency medical service missions in ROK, while LCI put in a total of three orders in addition to the five it was delivered this year, and SAS signed a framework agreement for six to be used in EMS missions. Helikorea expects deliveries to begin by the end of the year, LCI and SAS in 2017.
With the ability to fly up to 10 passengers, the AW169 is a light-intermediate twin-engine rotorcraft. It can complete air ambulance, corporate transport, law enforcement, offshore and utility operations. New technology solutions in the rotor system, engines, avionics, transmission and electric power generation, and distribution systems are also featured.
