Canada has issued a type certificate to Hélicoptères Guimbal’s Cabri G2 Feb. 10, following earlier certification by 10 different authorities, including EASA and the FAA. The Cabri G2 successfully completed a year of on-the-ground and in-flight tests.
President and CEO Bruno Guimbal said the company already has several customers for the aircraft in Canada. The first was delivered in February to Mischa and Sancho Gelb, who own British Columbia-based BC Helicopters. It is in transport to Canada, with a second helicopter to be delivered later.
To date, 190 Cabri G2s have been delivered in 28 countries. Most are used for training. The largest markets for the G2 include New Zealand and the U.K., but the U.S. is expected to become the biggest market by the end of this year.
California operator Revolution Aviation recently became the first in the state to acquire a G2 for training purposes.
