The University of Vermont Medical Center is willing to pay to staff a helicopter, Valley News reported. The medical center’s parent, University of Vermont Health Network, is reportedly in negotiations with Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, located in New Hampshire, to use on of its helicopters.
The report said that the medical center is part of a new system that the University of Vermont Health Network is creating. The medical center would pay to staff the first responders, and the helicopter operator would be responsible for a majority of the billing services.
Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center’s emergency response unit is called Dartmouth-Hitchcock Advanced Response Team, or "DHART." Metro Aviation supplies the aviation crew. According to the organization, it serves northern New England, transporting patients within the region’s five states.
