Donn Reed, a radio journalist in Los Angeles who is believed to have been the first to report on L.A. traffic from a helicopter, died of cancer at the age of 88 in his Tarzana, Calif. home on Dec. 12. Reed covered major news items in L.A. through the 1950s to the ‘70s.

Henri Sala has been appointed president of CGTM, a subsidiary of Turbomeca specializing in flight tests. He is replacing François Courtot, who has been named senior vice president, business development for the Snecma Group.

FlightSafety International has named Tom Mahoney to be vice president, government relations. Mahoney will be based in Washington, D.C., and replace Al Gleske, who is retiring. Mahoney previously served as manager of FSI’s Teterboro, New Jersey Learning Center.
