The U.S. Coast Guard has renewed its service contract for the Helicopter Interdiction Tactical Squadron (HITRON) in Jacksonville, Fla., for a fifth year. The eight MH-68A Sting Rays, armed versions of AgustaWestland’s A109 and leased from that company, have had a significant impact on illicit drug interdictions.  The squadron celebrated its 100th interdiction last May. The Coast Guard plans to arm its entire helicopter fleet for airborne-use-of-force missions by 2009.   For related news
