Lockheed Martin assured the U.S. Air Force March 14 that it can meet a 2012 delivery date for the service’s next-generation combat search-and-rescue helicopter, according to the Press & Sun Bulletin of Greater Binghamton, N.Y. In choosing Boeing’s HH-47 over the EH101 variant offered by Lockheed Martin, AgustaWestland, and Bell Helicopter, the Air Force said Lockheed Martin’s problems meeting the schedule for development and production of the VH-71 U.S. presidential aircraft (also based on the EH101) made it a high risk for missing the schedule for the SAR helo program.  For related news
