A helicopter pilot in the reconstituted Iraqi military today is to become the first qualified to fly in combat, according to the Air Force Times. It said the Iraqi air force on April 10 flew its first helicopter training sortie outside Taji Air Base, using two Bell Helicopter Huey 2s from the 2nd Sqdn. The service has been training with a team of about 100 American advisors. The 2nd Squadron is slated to begin flying combat missions in early May, the Air Force Times said.
