The North Devon-based air ambulance service, located in the southeast part of Britain, is moving to Eaglescott Airfield, a licensed airfield 7 mi north.

The Devon Air Ambulance Trust made the move after receiving a gift of a 125-year lease at Eaglescott, where it will build a permanent base. The Devon base flies a Eurocopter BO-105DBS equipped for advanced medical emergencies and can transport one patient with two paramedics. This is the second year the air ambulance has been in Devon. Last month, the Devon base began operating on a seven day-a-week schedule. The trust’s other location, in Exeter, east of Devon, has been in operation since 1992 and flies a Eurocopter EC135. Both locations operate only during daylight hours due to overhead cables and power lines.
