Boeing has assumed responsibility for spare parts, support equipment and component repairs for the 40 CH-47 Mk.2/2A Chinook in the United Kingdom’s Royal Air Force.

The Chinook Through Life Customer Support deal with Boeing is a 34-yr contract and has been in the planning stages for nine months. Engines are not included. In addition to regularly scheduled maintenance, Boeing will support battle-damaged aircraft flying in Iraq and Afghanistan and any modifications made to the aircraft. Britain’s Defense Aviation and Repair Agency will provide heavy maintenance.

The program is supposed to improve the availability of spare parts and increase the efficiency of the supply and spare parts system.
