China Wants to Join ALEA

In the latest glimmer of hope that China may eventually open as a rotorcraft market, Rotor & Wing has learned that the Asian behemoth wants to join the Airborne Law Enforcement Assn. China has a national policy to set up municipal police aviation units, and ones are already in action or in development in Beijing, Guangdong, and Shanghai. Two big hurdles remain to developing a vibrant helicopter market in China—that nation's tight grip on access to airspace and U.S. restrictions on export technology such as forward-looking infrared to China.  For related news
