AgustaWestland has signed an agreement with Kaigai Aviotech Corp. of Japan to sell AW119 Ke, AW109 Power and Grand helicopters to the Japanese commercial market.

Kaigai provides maintenance services to aircraft electronic equipment in much of the Japanese aviation industry.

In April, AgustaWestland was awarded a contract by the Japanese National Police Agency to supply it five AW109 Powers. Three helicopters were sold in both 2003 and 2005 for local police operations. In 2006, the Japanese police agency ordered an additional four AW109 Powers, which is used extensively in emergency medical services operations and law enforcement. In October 2006, the Japanese Coast Guard ordered three AgustaWestland AW139s for maritime search and rescue operations in an initial phase of a replacement program for up to 24 helicopters.
