U.S. Army Fields CH-47F

The U.S Army formally declared its first unit equipped with new-build Boeing CH-47F Chinooks. In a ceremony today at Fort Campbell, Ky. , the aircraft were unveiled by the 7th Battalion of the 101st Airborne Div.'s  101st Aviation Regiment, 159th Combat Aviation Brigade. In April, the aircraft completed operational testing at Fort Campbell. The CH-47F has a newly designed airframe, the Rockwell Collins Common Avionics Architecture System cockpit and a BAE Systems digital automatic  flight control system, which unit pilots said combine to provids improved situational awareness. It is powered by 4,868-shp Honeywell engines. For related news
