Albuquerque’s police and Bernalillo County, N.M. sheriff’s officers are being sued by a man once accused of shooting down a sheriff’s helicopter, according to the Associated Press. A former U.S. Marine Corps sharpshooter, Jason Kerns, and his parents allege authorities falsified information against him and withheld evidence that could have exonerated him. Federal prosecutors dropped charges last year against Kerns for firing on and causing the crash of a sheriff’s patrolling MD Helicopters MD-500G on Aug. 6, 2005. Prosecutors said ballistics work was insufficient.    For related news
