India Wants Medium to Heavy-Lift Helicopters

Indian defense authorities are expected to invite global bids for medium to heavy-lift helicopters by the middle of 2008, according to The Boeing Co.,  said it had talks with the Indian air force in February concerning the sale of 12 CH-47s. A deal for 12 Chinooks would be worth $600 million and would include support systems, logistics and training. In August 2006, Eurocopter made known plans to set up a new subsidiary in Bangalore, India in a bid to supply 10 ton class helicopters to India’s armed forces. For related news
