Carson Helicopter Services is demonstrating its Fire King in Western Australia. The Grants Pass, Ore.-based company's conversion of the Sikorsky Aircraft S-61 is starting a 110-day stint fighting bushfires  throughout the state, The Sunday Times newspaper reports. The aircraft was brought to the nation by Perth-based Helicopters Australia. Carson's upgrade includes composite main-rotor blades made by Ducommun that provide a 2,500-lb. payload increase and a 15-kt. gain in airspeed and a 900-gal. belly tank. The aircraft, which can carry 15 firefighters, is also equipped with a Goodrich hoist. For related news
