Included in the steps is the government’s encouragement of insurance firms to cover air evacuation in their policies; and requests to have state governments to have helicopter fleets in case of casualties during natural disasters, the likes of which have already claimed thousands of lives in the past year. Hospitals in Delhi have begun using helos for emergency aid and India’s Civil Aviation Ministry has identified Rohini and Delhi-Noida-Delhi (DND) Flyway, an expressway that connects Delhi to Noida, as areas that should develop heliports. The Ministry has asked other states to take similar initiatives in creating suitable heliports or even rooftop facilities to facilitate EMS operations. For related news
