A NATO-chartered Mi-8 crashed in Afghanistan's eastern province of Kunar, near the border with Pakistan, killing one person and wounding three on board, the alliance reports. The civilian helicopter crashed soon after taking off from a military base; NATO said it has ruled out any hostile action as a cause of the Aug. 24 crash. Kunar is considered a bastion of Taliban insurgents fighting the Afghan government and foreign troops supporting it. The Taliban claimed it had shot down the helicopter. For related news
