Helicopter Unit Moving to Fort Carson

An Army battalion of nearly 500 soldiers will move from its base in Korea to Fort Carson, Colo. in the spring, replacing the 1st Squadron, 6th Cavalry Regiment unit that is moving to Fort Riley, Kan. The 1st Battalion, 2nd Aviation Regiment will bring 24 attack helicopters to the post outside Colorado Springs. The unit will train at Fort Carson before heading to Iraq in the fall of 2009.
