On Nov. 26, the Spanish Ministry of Defence received the first EC135 manufactured at Eurocopter’s plant in Albatece, Spain.  The facility, which opened in March 2007, produces the twin-engine EC135 helicopter, as well as rear sections for the Tiger and forward fuselage sections for the NH90 models. Eurocopter plans to deliver many more helicopters built at the facility to the Spanish military in the future, and will increase the plant’s workforce from 400 to 700 by 2010 to accomplish that goal.  More than 40 Eurocopter helicopters are currently in operation throughout the country.
