The British government released its annual defense budget on December 11, which includes postponing the commencement of an aircraft carrier project in order to purchase new AgustaWestland Super Lynx utility helicopters for frontline troops in Afghanistan. The budget also calls for engine upgrades for older models of the twin-engine workhorse. The added bonus is the preservation of jobs at AgustaWestland’s Yeovil manufacturing plant in Somerset.
