In a two-part contract totaling $11.9 billion, Brazil and France have agreed to build 50 military transport helicopters and five submarines. On the aircraft side of the deal, the contract calls for Brazil to purchase 50 EC175s in various models for its military built in partnership between Eurocopter and Helibras, a Brazilian company partially owned by Eurocopter. The $2.6 million deal will be the biggest helicopter-related contract ever signed by Eurocopter in South America, and should see the first EC175s rolling off Helibras’ assembly line by 2010.
