On Jan. 8, the French government announced that it will exercise its option to purchase 22 NH90 helicopters for 600 million euros ($818.3 million). When added to the initial 12-ship order placed in late 2007, the country’s total order for the big tactical transport helicopter climbs to 34, not including an active purchase order for 27 NFHs, the naval variant of the NH90. According to the Ministry of Defence, the aircraft will be used to support its soldiers in combat zones. The NH90 is a product of NH Industries, a consortium comprised of AgustaWestland, EADS and Stork Fokker. For related news
