Beacon Alternative Needed

During offshore helicopter transport in Scotland, oil workers were wearing a wristwatch-style, personal locator beacons (PLB) to aid in rescue, should the pilot have to ditch into the North Sea. They've worn these bracelets for nearly a decade, but the Civil Aviation Authority has advised them to stop wearing these PLBs. The concern is that the signal from these devices may interfere with the main beacons on the helicopter and life rafts. The problem was identified during the U.K.'s Air Accident Investigation Branch's exploration of a February 18, 2009 offshore flight that plunged into the North Sea. All those aboard survived.
