With its rotorcraft dominating a large piece of show floor in Anaheim, Sikorsky was out in full force at Heli-Expo 2009. At the same time, the company used the show as a backdrop for a number of announcements.

Key among these was the rebranding of Sikorsky Aircraft Corp. as Sikorsky Global Helicopters (SGH). The new company also includes Sikorsky subsidiaries Schweizer Aircraft, Keystone Helicopters, and Associated Aircraft Group, all of which now operate under the Sikorsky Global Helicopters banner. The rebranding is aimed at making Sikorsky’s image "more global," said Marc Poland, vice president of SGH.

Heli-Expo marked the sale of the first Sikorsky S-434 helicopter. The aircraft is a four-seat version of the three-place, single-engine S-333 turbine helicopter. The S-434, serial #0001, was sold to Aircom SP, a power line and gas pipeline patrols operator in Poland.

A Sikorsky civil S-76C++ helicopter was sold to Shanghai Kingwing General Aviation Company in China. It will be used for civil onshore rescue missions organized by China’s Ministry of Civil Affairs. Delivery is scheduled for May 2009. Sikorsky also displayed an S-300CBi helicopter at its booth. The S-3000Cbi is being acquired by AirVenture Flight Center of Olive Branch, Miss. to launch its helicopter training fleet.
