The manufacturer is interested in supplying the presidential helicopters to Lockheed Martin, an option that may save costs and get the much-beleaguered contract back on track. If Defense Secretary Gates and the DoD agree, the S-92 would become the new Marine One. Gates canceled the program in April due mostly to costs and shifting government expectations. Sikorsky's president, Jeff Pino, expressed his interest during the opening day of the Paris Air Show, where he will meet with Lockheed executives. The Lockheed/AgustaWestland agreement for the helicopter is still in place. For related news
