Thirty new Sikorsky UH-60M Black Hawks are being delivered to Fort Riley, Kansas. The new helicopters are assigned to the 1st Infantry Division and are replacing the division’s older UH-60L Black Hawks.

"The UH-60M comes equipped with a fully digital cockpit versus the analogue cockpit of the UH-60L," said Lt. Col. Andrew Cole, commander 3rd Assault Helicopter Battalion, 1st Aviation Regiment. "Improved engines, power train, and blades offer increased power capability which improves the helicopter’s maximum load allowance and endurance. Additional Aircraft Survivability Equipment (ASE) enables the crew to identify and react much sooner to the threat environment, which dramatically improves its ability to avoid and/or defeat the enemy’s anti-aircraft systems."

Lt. Col. Cole also said the new UH-60M comes with "an improved onboard maintenance diagnostics system, which will enhance the maintainers’ ability to streamline trouble shooting procedures and manage maintenance more effectively."
