The fleet of four Sikorsky S-92s dedicated to search and rescue (SAR) in the United Kingdom has topped 500 missions flown. Through August, a total of 510 missions had been conducted from two locations in the UK—331 from the base at Stornoway in the Western Isles and 179 from Sumburg in Shetland. According to Ian McLuskie, UK SAR manager for CHC Search and Rescue, aircraft technical availability stands at 98 percent for both bases.
