The crew of the Canadian Forces 442 Search and Rescue Squadron based at CFB Comox has won the 2009 Cormorant Trophy, given annually to the most significant SAR mission performed in the country. AgustaWestland, which sponsors the award, presented it to crewmembers during the recent SAREX conference in Snelling, Calif. The crew was involved in a night rescue of a skier that had fallen 30 meters into a crevasse, 8,700 feet above sea level on Hamathko Glacier.
