Eleven U.S. soldiers and three civilians were killed in two separate helicopter crashes in Afghanistan on Monday. A total of seven troops and three civilians died in a crash in the western portion of the country. Also injured in that crash were 11 U.S. soldiers, one civilian and 14 Afghan soldiers. In a separate incident in south Afghanistan, two American helicopters collided with each other, resulting in the deaths of four troops. The incident marks one of the deadliest days in Afghanistan since the war began in October 2001.
