Eurocopter’s Brazilian subsidiary Helibras has won a contract to update 34 Brazilian Army Aviation Command AS365K Panthers with new engines and avionics. Helibras will install new Turbomeca Arriel 2C2 CGs, which feature full authority digital engine control (FEDEC), and new digital radios and displays in the cockpit. Plans call for upgrades on four helicopters per year, with deliveries scheduled between 2011 and 2021. The modernization program aims to extend current fleet life by around 25 years.
