Helicopter Association International (HAI) has announced a slate of award winners for its annual Salute to Excellence program, which will recognize key contributors to the rotorcraft industry at a Feb. 22 banquet during Heli-Expo in Houston. Among the winners are Evergreen Helicopters Chairman Tim Wahlberg and Associated Aircraft Group (AAG) President John Agor, who are both receiving 2010 Bell Helicopter Lifetime Achievement awards. Robert Peterson, a consultant with Aurora, Ore.-based Columbia Helicopters, has won the 2010 Rolls-Royce Excellence in Helicopter Maintenance award.

John Agor

Wahlberg began working for Evergreen in 1969 as a mechanic, holding various titles over the course of more than 40 years, including director of maintenance and vice president of maintenance for Evergreen International Airlines. He became chairman of Evergreen International Aviation in 2006.

Working in the aviation industry for almost 50 years, Agor formed Wappingers Falls, N.Y.-based AAG in 1989. Sikorsky purchased the company 10 years later and retained Agor as president. In 2006, AAG received HAI’s Igor I. Sikorsky award for humanitarian service for assisting recovery operations following Hurricane Katrina in 2005.

Nicknamed “chief trouble shooter,” Peterson has worked for Columbia since 1972 after serving in the U.S. Air Force. For many years, he was hydraulic shop chief, developing various techniques to purify hydraulic fluid and increase fleet-wide flight hours. Peterson is also a member of the Standards of American Engineering.
