Brazil’s Helibras has obtained a contract to upgrade 34 Eurocopter AS365Ks.

Eurocopter’s subsidiary in Brazil, Helibras, has secured a contract to install new engines and avionics for 34 Brazilian Army Aviation Command AS365Ks. Under the agreement, Helibras will equip the helicopters with new Turbomeca Arriel 2C2 CGs, which feature full authority digital engine control (FADEC), as well as new digital radios and cockpit displays for PFD, navigation and tactical data.

Helibras estimates that four helicopters will be upgraded each year starting in 2011 and running until 2021. The modernization program aims to extend current fleet life by around 25 years.
