In a preliminary report released April 12, U.S. National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) investigators describe the pilot of a Eurocopter AS350B3 that crashed March 25 in Tennessee as trying to “beat the storm.” Three people died in the Brownsville crash—pilot Doug Phillips and flight nurses Misty Brogdon and Cindy Parker. The helicopter, operated by the Memphis Medical Center Air Ambulance Service’s Hospital Wing unit, was on a positioning flight from Jackson-Madison County Hospital Heliport (TN05) returning to its home base at Haywood County EMS Heliport (99TN) after dropping off a patient.
