Rotor & Wing’s 2010 Safety and Training Summit came to a close yesterday after two jam-packed days that included a keynote speech from FAA Administrator Randy Babbitt, expert panels from the helicopter industry, sponsor exhibits and flight training demos. Fortunately, our coverage of the Summit is just beginning. Regularly check the Rotor & Wing home page for new videos, photos and reports from the event, and look for more in the July 2010 print edition of the magazine.

Today’s new video features Editor-at-Large Ernie Stephens describing the challenges of upgrading helicopters with new equipment, including night vision goggles (NVGs), and how project managers might want to re-think previously conceived notions about evolving technologies. Stephens was one of several magazine contributors to speak at the Summit, which also featured columnists Chris Baur, Lee Benson, Keith Cianfrani, Steve “Elroy” Colby and Dan Deutermann. Below the Stephens video is a section of Babbitt’s speech regarding accident trends in the helicopter industry. For additional clips from the keynote, visitthe R&W Safety and Training Channel and the Babbitt Keynote Speech section.
